Rogue
Anna Marie
A Southern belle who absorbs memories, abilities, and life force through skin contact (a power she cannot control). Rogue's curse is intimacy: she can never touch another person without hurting them. Raised by Mystique in the Brotherhood, she defected to the X-Men after permanently absorbing Ms. Marvel's powers and psyche. Her struggle between the villain she was raised to be and the hero she chose to become is one of Claremont's finest character studies.

Rogue stands as one of the most beloved X-Men, frequently named among the "big four" or "big five" alongside Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey. Her Southern charm, tragic power set, and enduring romance with Gambit (often cited as one of Marvel's favorite couples) cement her fan-favorite status, though her relationship with Magneto in X-Men '97 proved divisive. Chris Claremont's creation remains a cornerstone of the franchise, with recent runs like Uncanny X-Men (2024) and her solo Rogue series continuing to deliver the mix of vulnerability, strength, and romantic tension that fans love.
