Factions & Families
The teams that shaped the X-Men universe, from Xavier's original five to the militant X-Force and beyond.

X-Men
67 membersFounded by Professor Charles Xavier, the X-Men are mutant heroes who fight to protect a world that fears and hates them. From the original five students to the international roster of the Claremont era and beyond, the X-Men have always embodied Xavier's dream of peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants.

X-Force
19 membersBorn from the ashes of the New Mutants under Cable's militant leadership, X-Force takes a more aggressive approach to the mutant cause. Where the X-Men protect, X-Force strikes first.

X-Factor
17 membersOriginally the five founding X-Men reunited under a new banner, X-Factor has taken many forms over the decades — government-sponsored team, private detective agency, and corporate-backed mutant response unit.

Marauders
12 membersA Krakoan-era team led by Kate Pryde, sailing aboard the Marauder to smuggle mutants out of hostile nations denied access to Krakoa's gates. Equal parts pirate adventure and mutant diplomacy, the Marauders also serve as Hellfire Trading Company enforcers.

New Mutants
12 membersXavier's second generation of students, younger and less experienced than the X-Men but no less powerful. The New Mutants were defined by their bonds of friendship and their coming-of-age struggles as much as by their mutant abilities.

Brotherhood of Evil Mutants
11 membersMagneto's original team of mutant supremacists, dedicated to the idea that mutants should rule over humanity rather than coexist with it. The Brotherhood has been reformed under various leaders — Mystique, Toad, and others — but always represents the militant counterpoint to Xavier's dream.

Excalibur
10 membersA British-based mutant team formed after the X-Men's apparent death in Dallas. Led by Captain Britain and anchored by Nightcrawler and Kitty Pryde, Excalibur blended superhero action with interdimensional weirdness and British humor.

Generation X
10 membersThe next generation of mutant students, trained by Emma Frost and Banshee at the Massachusetts Academy after Xavier's school was destroyed. Generation X represented the '90s mutant experience — media-savvy, cynical, and struggling to find their place.

Morlocks
8 membersAn underground community of mutants living in the abandoned tunnels beneath Manhattan, led by Callisto. Too visibly mutated or marginalized to live on the surface, the Morlocks represent the mutants society forgot. Their massacre by Mr. Sinister's Marauders was a defining tragedy of the Claremont era.

Hellfire Club
7 membersAn exclusive social club for the wealthy and powerful, secretly run by its Inner Circle of mutant and human elites who manipulate world events from the shadows. Its members have shifted between villainy and uneasy alliance with the X-Men over the decades.

Starjammers
5 membersA band of space pirates led by Corsair — Christopher Summers, father of Cyclops and Havok. The Starjammers fight against Shi'ar Imperial tyranny and have been recurring allies of the X-Men in their cosmic adventures. The crew includes Hepzibah, Ch'od, Raza, and Cr+eee.

Acolytes
4 membersFanatical followers of Magneto who worship him as the savior of mutantkind. Led at various times by Fabian Cortez, Exodus, and Magneto himself, the Acolytes have clashed repeatedly with the X-Men while pursuing Magneto's vision of mutant supremacy through violence.

Allies / Honorary X-Men
4 membersNotable mutants and heroes who have fought alongside the X-Men without being permanent members. From Namor's complicated alliance to Kamala Khan's contributions, these characters have shaped the X-Men's world from the edges.

Orchis
4 membersAn anti-mutant coalition formed from the remnants of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hydra, A.I.M., and other human organizations, united by their opposition to mutant sovereignty on Krakoa. Orchis orchestrated the Fall of X, driving mutantkind from Krakoa and hunting them worldwide. Led by figures including Dr. Alia Gregor and empowered by Nimrod and Bastion's Sentinel technology.
