Rockslide
Santo Vaccarro
A granite-bodied student at the Xavier Institute, Santo Vaccarro provided comic relief and brute strength to the post-M-Day student generation alongside his friends Hellion, Anole, and Mercury. His cheerful, wisecracking personality masked genuine loyalty to his teammates through the decimation of the student body and multiple wars. During the Krakoan era his death and resurrection became a pivotal plot point: he came back wrong, proving that Krakoan resurrection could not perfectly restore every mutant and raising disturbing questions about identity and the soul.

New Mutants #7
January 2004
Rockslide earned a devoted following during his New X-Men: Academy X run as the team's comedic heart, delivering one-liners and asking the "hard questions" that made him a breakout favorite among the younger generation of mutants. His death during the Krakoa era sparked genuine grief from readers who had followed Santo since his student days, though his return through resurrection protocols felt underwhelming to many who hoped for more substantial storylines. Fans consistently name him as a top pick for adaptation and lament that writers outside of his Academy X heyday rarely give him meaningful page time.
