Danielle 'Dani' Moonstar
A Cheyenne mutant who creates psychic illusions drawn from people's deepest fears and desires, Dani Moonstar is a natural leader (fierce, principled, and unwilling to compromise). She became a Valkyrie of Asgard, led the New Mutants, and never stopped fighting for her people. One of the most underrated characters in the X-Men canon.

Dani Moonstar stands as one of the most consistently respected New Mutants, celebrated for her fierce leadership, deep cultural roots, and unwavering moral compass. Her journey from the original New Mutants run through her Valkyrie days to her recent solo series showcases a character who tries hard at everything she does, whether leading a team or teaching resistance history. While some debate her recent costume update (which closely resembles earlier fan designs) and her romantic pairings, there's broad consensus that she deserves more spotlight as a potential X-Men team leader.
