Wolfsbane
Rahne Sinclair
A Scottish mutant who transforms into a wolf or werewolf form. Raised by a fanatically religious guardian who tried to burn her as a witch, Rahne carries deep guilt about her mutant nature. Her faith and her wolf are in constant tension (but on the battlefield, Wolfsbane is fierce, loyal, and absolutely fearless).

Wolfsbane remains a beloved deep-cut character from the New Mutants era, with fans particularly championing Peter David's long X-Factor runs (2006-2013) where her complicated relationships and religious struggles took center stage. Her tragic death in Uncanny X-Men #17 (2019) sparked genuine fan outrage for feeling unearned and disrespectful to a character with decades of nuanced development. She's widely regarded as one of the most compelling "second-tier" mutants whose werewolf powers and Scottish Catholic guilt created uniquely personal storytelling opportunities.
