Sunfire
Shiro Yoshida
A Japanese mutant who generates superheated plasma and can fly by ionizing the air around him. Arrogant, nationalistic, and fiercely independent, Sunfire has always been a reluctant ally of the X-Men (joining the team for Giant-Size X-Men #1 only to quit immediately). His pride and power made him a natural target for Apocalypse, who transformed him into the Horseman of Famine.

Sunfire occupies a frustrating space as a character with untapped potential who rarely gets sustained spotlight. His brief tenure on the Krakoa-era X-Men roster (2021) energized fans who appreciated seeing him finally utilized as a core team member, but his quick return to obscurity after that run reinforced his reputation as perpetually underutilized despite being part of the iconic Giant-Size X-Men #1 lineup. Many view him as someone who deserves a proper shot at long-term team membership rather than being relegated to guest appearances and roster fill-in roles.
