A Japanese mutant who generates superheated plasma and can fly by ionizing the air around him. Arrogant, nationalistic, and fiercely independent, Sunfire has always been a reluctant ally of the X-Men — joining the team for Giant-Size X-Men #1 only to quit immediately. His pride and power made him a natural target for Apocalypse, who transformed him into the Horseman of Famine.
