Scarlet Witch
Wanda Maximoff
A hex-casting mutant whose reality-warping powers have reshaped the Marvel Universe itself. Wanda began in her father Magneto's Brotherhood before joining the Avengers, but her most devastating impact on the X-Men came with three words ("No more mutants"), which decimated the mutant population on M-Day. The reversal of that act and her complicated legacy made her central to the Krakoan era's tensions.

Wanda remains one of Marvel's most controversial figures, with House of M cementing her as exceptionally powerful and narratively divisive ("No more mutants" still sparks heated debates decades later). The retcon removing her mutant status and connection to Magneto in 2014 continues to enrage longtime fans who consider those relationships foundational to her character. Her Krakoa-era treatment and the tension between her Avengers heroism and her devastation of mutantkind make her a perpetually complex, often polarizing presence in X-Men canon.
