Sauron
Karl Lykos
A mutant energy vampire who transforms into a humanoid pteranodon when he absorbs the life force of mutants. Karl Lykos is a tragic figure (a doctor who wants to help but whose hunger transforms him into a megalomaniacal dinosaur-man who terrorizes the Savage Land). One of the X-Men's most wonderfully absurd recurring villains.

Sauron has become a beloved meme character in the Marvel fandom, celebrated for his absurdly specific origin story (a scientist who turns into a pteranodon-man because of course he does) and wonderfully ridiculous dialogue. His recent appearances in runs like *Spider-Man and the X-Men* lean hard into the comedy, giving him hilariously petty motivations and bizarre one-liners that have made him an internet favorite. While he's rarely treated as a serious threat, that's exactly what makes him endearing. Sauron knows what kind of villain he is and commits to the bit completely.
