Dust
Sooraya Qadir
An Afghan mutant who transforms her body into a destructive sandstorm, Sooraya Qadir is a devout Muslim whose faith and powers exist in constant tension. Rescued from slavers by Wolverine and brought to the Xavier Institute, she became a core member of the post-M-Day student body. Her sand form can strip flesh from bone, making her one of the most lethal students despite her quiet, reserved personality. Writers have generally treated her faith with respect, making her one of Marvel's most prominent Muslim characters.

Dust is fondly remembered as a well-written Muslim character who debuted in the New X-Men Academy X era, though that run is often marred by uncomfortable sexualized artwork of the teenage cast. She has a dedicated following who appreciate her thoughtful representation and cool sand-based powers, but her lack of major storylines and minimal appearances outside comics leave many fans wishing she'd gotten more development and screen time.
