X-Man
Nathaniel 'Nate' Grey
The Age of Apocalypse version of Cable (Nathan Grey without the techno-organic virus, making him potentially the most powerful telepath/telekinetic on Earth). Nate escaped his dying reality into the main universe, where he struggled with godlike power and a shortened lifespan. His attempt to reshape the world led to the Age of X-Man.

X-Man never quite escaped the shadow of being "the other Cable" despite his immense power, and his convoluted Age of Apocalypse origins made him a hard sell for many readers. His relationship with Madelyne Pryor remains one of the most controversial and uncomfortable pairings in X-Men history (a clone of his mother paired with her alternate son felt unnecessarily complicated even by comics standards). Despite being literally called "the X-Man," he's largely faded from relevance in modern X-books, remembered more as a relic of the overcomplicated '90s than as a compelling character in his own right.
