A mutant who creates identical duplicates of himself upon physical impact. Jamie Madrox turned what seemed like a joke power into something extraordinary, sending dupes to live different lives, learn different skills, and become a one-man army. His reinvention as a noir-tinged private detective leading X-Factor Investigations stands as one of the best character rehabilitations in X-Men history.

Fan Sentiment

Multiple Man is widely regarded as one of the most creatively reimagined B-listers in X-Men history, thanks largely to Peter David's acclaimed X-Factor run that explored the existential horror and philosophical implications of his duplication power. Fans consistently point to that series' examination of Jamie's fractured psyche (treating his duplicates as manifestations of different personality aspects) as a masterclass in character development that elevated him from throwaway joke character to tragic, complex figure. His absence from recent X-Men books has left fans wondering where he fits in the current continuity.
