Morph
Kevin Sydney
A shapeshifter with a wisecracking personality, Morph was famously killed in the first episode of the 1992 X-Men animated series, making him an iconic figure despite limited comics appearances at the time. In the comics he originally appeared as Changeling, a villain-turned-sacrifice who died impersonating Professor X. The Exiles series gave the character new life as a beloved team member from an alternate reality.

Morph remains best known as the breakout character from X-Men: The Animated Series and its 2024 revival X-Men '97, where the shapeshifter's tragic sacrifice in the premiere episode became one of the most memorable moments in superhero animation. The character's recent return in X-Men '97 has reignited fan discussions about incorporating Morph into the main Marvel Comics continuity, though comic readers note the original version (Changeling) appeared only briefly before dying in the 1960s. Fans celebrate Morph's humor, versatility, and the show's exploration of the character's non-binary identity, with many hoping to see the animated version join the core X-Men lineup in future MCU adaptations.
