Karma
Xi'an Coy Manh
A Vietnamese mutant who can psychically possess and control other people's bodies. Karma was the first New Mutant recruited and one of the first openly LGBTQ+ characters in Marvel Comics. A refugee and eldest sibling who raised her younger siblings, Karma brings a maturity and quiet strength to the team that grounds its more impulsive members.

Karma holds a special place as one of the New Mutants' founding members and Marvel's first major openly lesbian character, though her representation has been frustratingly inconsistent over the decades. Her most celebrated appearances remain in the original New Mutants run and the 2009 revival, where her complex backstory as a Vietnamese refugee and her role as the team's grounding, maternal presence resonated strongly. Despite being a pioneering LGBTQ+ character, fans frequently lament that she's been sidelined or forgotten in major storylines, appearing more as a roster name than a fully developed character in recent years.
