Darwin
Armando Muñoz
A mutant with reactive evolution (his body instantly adapts to survive any threat). Darwin was one of the secret team Professor X sent to rescue the original X-Men from Krakoa, revealed in Deadly Genesis. His power makes him nearly unkillable, though his adaptations are not always combat-useful; sometimes survival means his body simply teleports him away from danger.

Darwin remains one of the most frustrating casualties of X-Men: First Class, where his "reactive evolution" power (which should make him unkillable) was immediately undermined by an early death that felt exploitative and racially charged. Comic fans appreciate his fascinating mutation mechanics, like the time he survived Hulk by simply teleporting away, but lament that he's been criminally underused in both film and print. His portrayal in First Class sparked lasting conversations about how Black mutants are depicted and discarded in superhero media.
